I am commonly asked my opinion on credit report and credit monitoring websites. While I am currently working with offering credit protection services, it is extremely important that EVERYONE is checking their credit report at least twice a year. Since it's January, right now is the perfect time to do this! So, I'm going to walk you through checking your credit report for free in 2 easy steps!
1. Go to www.AnnualCreditReport.comThe three major credit bureaus (Equifax, Experian & TransUnion) are required by law to give you one free credit report every year. This is the portal they have created to handle these free credit reports. It is 100% free to check your credit report. If you want to check your credit score, that could cost $5-10 but is not required.
2. Select & Check ONE Free Credit Report
AnnualCreditReport will give you the option to check all of your free credit reports but I never suggest doing this since your won't have access to another free report for a year and so much can happen in just a few months. I suggest you check just ONE free credit report now and come back in 3-6 months and check one of the remaining reports. This way you are keeping track of your credit periodically throughout the year and you are doing it absolutely for free!
That's it, you're all done! Hopefully you don't find any surprises on your credit but if you do, please feel free to send me an email and I'll do my best to help you get any fraud removed quickly!
